Respect in Sports
Hockey Eastern Ontario mandates two Respect in Sport certifications, sponsored by the Respect in Sport Group, for team officials and parents involved with minor hockey. The Respect in Sport Group' s mission is to empower people to recognize and prevent bullying, abuse, harassment and discrimination (BAHD) through interactive, online certification; with a vision to eliminate bullying, abuse, harassment and discrimination by inspiring a global culture of respect.
Descriptions of the two courses with instructions for registering and completing are as follows.

Respect in Sport - Activity Leader/Coach Programme
- The Respect in Sport Activity Leader/Coach Programme is to be completed by all Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Trainers, Managers and Initiation On-ice Volunteers.
- The programme is designed to train leaders to recognize, understand and respond to issues of bullying, abuse, harassment and discrimination (BAHD).
- Duration - 2.5 hours
- Cost - $39.95. Will be reimbursed by MDHA if you are on a team roster.
- The course only needs to be completed once, i.e. there is no expiry date.
- Those with the legacy Speak Out course are grandfathered the Respect in Sport Activity Leader certification.
- If you have completed the Respect In Sport - Activity Leader through another organization, such as soccer or ringette, please forward a copy of your certificate to the registrar@russellwarriors.ca to have the certification ported to Hockey Canada.
Please follow these instructions to complete the Activity Leader course:
- IMPORTANT – During the registration process you will be asked to select your hockey association. Please select Russell Minor Hockey Association - RMHA.
- Go to the Respect in Sport Activity Leader site: Respect in Sport - Activity Leader
- Create an account under 'Register your Profile".
- Pay and complete the Respect in Sport Activity Leader course.
- When done forward a copy of your certificate and receipt to the Treasurer for reimbursement.
Respect in Sport - Parent Programme
- The Respect in Sport Parent Programme is to be completed by at least one parent in the household of all players born 2007 or later (Atom, Novice and Initiation) and new to hockey at other levels.
- The program will help define a model of behaviour for all parents and create a more rewarding, safe and respectful environment for everyone involved.
- This is a mandatory on-line course which must be completed before your child(ren)'s first ice time.
- Duration - 1 hour
- Cost - $12
- The course only needs to be completed once, i.e. there is no expiry date.

- Go to the Respect in Sport Parent site: Respect In Sport - Parent
- Create an account under 'Register your Profile".
- Under Profile/Child Management add your child(ren).
- Pay and complete the Respect in Sport Parent course.
